Game
3, Round 3, August 5, 2007
Greyhounds
just squeeze past Railroaders to win 3-2.
The final game of the post season turned out to be
another exciting and close game as the Greyhounds win
the 2007 KIT League playoff title. Union City took an
early 1 run lead when Rafael Hill scored off a Jeff
Reach single. The Railroaders scored their only two runs
on a Cory Hodskins home run with Tyler Rehmel on base who
walked. The Greyhounds tied the game in the 5th when
Rafael Hill reached base after being hit by a pitch,
advanced to second from a batter walked, then scored on
the 1st of 4 errors committed by Fulton during the game.
In the 8th, Zach Helton walked and advanced to 2nd from
a Justin Gauthier sacrifice bunt. The 4th Railroader
error allowed Helton to score and Union City took the
lead 3-2. Strong pitching by both teams only
allowed a total of 7 hits the entire game. Starter Brad
Rowland gets the win throwing 8 complete innings
striking out 6 and walking 2. Robby Reeves gets the save
pitching the 9th and gave up 1 of the 4 Railroader hits.
Losing pitcher was Chris Craycraft going 7 1/3 innings,
allowing 3 hits, striking out 6, walking 7 and giving up
only 1 earned run. Chad Edwards in relief completed the
game allowing no hits and striking out 1.

This
completes the 2007 season for the KIT League.
Congratulations to the Union City Greyhounds as post
season playoff champions and the Fulton Railroaders as
regular season champions. The Railroaders gave their
fans some exciting play throughout the season and we look
forward to 2008 for more baseball action. Thanks go out
to the Railroaders players and organization for all
their hard work!

2, Round 3, August 4, 2007
Railroaders
take 2nd game of series over Greyhounds 5-4.
By beating the Greyhounds, the Railroaders have forced a
3rd and final game in the playoffs on Sunday to be play
again at Lohaus Field. For the second night in a row,
the grandstand held over 200 fans from both teams,
cheering their players on. The Greyhounds used 2 singles
and a walk to score 1 in the first inning. The
Railroaders promptly answered in the bottom of inning
with 2 doubles and a 2 run line drive homer by Zak Shy
to total up 3 runs. Bottom of the 2nd the Railroaders
added 2 more runs from a Cory Hodskins single, Jeff
Reinke hit by a pitch, and a double off the bat of Allen
Bolden. Starter and winning pitcher John Selb kept the
Greyhounds in check until the 4th when they scored 2
with a single, double and 2 sacrifice RBIs to make the
score 5-3. Great Railroader defense kept Union City at
bay all night with no strikeouts from either Selb or
reliever Chad Edwards. The Greyhounds used 2 singles and
2 walks in the 7th to score another run to draw within
1, when Arron Varnum came in to complete and save the
game. The Greyhounds' tough bats produced 10 hits and
only struck out once, but big plays by the Railroaders
kept the scoring within reason. Losing pitcher for Union
City was Alex Berry who went 6 innings allowing all 7
the Fulton hits, walking no one and striking out 2. In
addition to Shy's homerun, Fulton's Tyler Rehmel and
Cory Hodskins were 2 for 3 each also scoring 1 and 1
RBI.

The
Railroaders made the most of what they got and held off
the Greyhounds enough to win. The two teams compete
again on Sunday at 7 pm to complete the post season
playoffs. Don't miss this final game for 2007 at

1, Round 3, August 3, 2007
Greyhounds
defeat Railroaders 7-3 in 1st of 3 in playoffs.
The
Greyhounds used the long ball on Friday to blast a win
against Fulton Rafael Hill and Jeffrey Reach matched
each other with 2 homeruns consisting of one solo and
one 2 RBI
to total 6 runs. Starter and losing pitcher Cory White
threw a strong game through 6 1/3 innings striking out 9
and 0 walks, but couldn't stop the damage created by the
4 homeruns combined with 4 additional hits. Greyhound
pitching silenced the Railroader bats only allowing 3
hits, all by Drew Robertson who got a single, double,
and a solo homerun for 1 RBI. The Railroaders offense
did manufacture their 1st run in the 1st inning without
a hit using aggressive base running. Tyler Rehmel
walked, stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd on passed ball then
stole home while Cory Hodskins, who had walked, stole
2nd. Jarrett Casey takes the win for Union City going 6
innings also striking out 9, walking 6.

The
Greyhounds served as home team tonight due to a
scheduling conflict in Union City. Tomorrow, Saturday,
at Lohaus Field the Railroaders return as the Home team
to play the 2nd in best of 3 final playoff round against
the Greyhounds. The Press Box in the Lohaus' grandstand
will be back in full swing as the Railroaders go to even
the series and force the 3rd game on Sunday, again at
home. The crowd at tonight's game
was very supportive and fans from both teams enjoyed the
game. Make your plans now to be at the ballpark for some
great baseball!

2, Round 2, August 1, 2007
Railroaders
edge by Bulls 5-4.
The
Railroaders take game 2 in the 2nd round of the playoffs
eliminating the Bulls and now advance to the final
round. The Greyhounds won their 2nd game over the Oilers
and also move into the 3rd round of the playoffs.
In
Wednesday's game both teams produced a total a 26 hits
giving the fans lots of actions. Zak Shy started the
scoring for the Railroaders with a solo homerun in the
bottom of the 2nd inning. The Bulls came back with 3
runs in the 3rd and the Railroaders answered in the
bottom of the inning with 2 more to tie the game at 3
all. In the 8th, Fulton's Tyler Rehmel walked followed
by a double by Cory Hodskins and a Zak Shy walk to load
the bases. Kyle Bondy then sacrifice flied bringing
home 1 RBI and Chris Craycraft singled for another
to make the score 5-3. The Bulls put up their final run
in the 8th and threaten more in the 9th but a pick off
and run down of a runner on first by closer Arron Varnum
helped keep the Bulls scoreless in the inning. Fulton
starter pitcher Michael Lucas went 7 1/3 innings leaving
with the game tied, reliever Chad Edwards finished 7th
& 8th innings to get the win and Varnum picks up the
same. Losing pitcher for the Bulls was Lance Young going
7 innings. Offense hitting for the Railroaders was lead
by Kyle Bondy who went 3 for 3 driving in 2 RBIs and Zak
Shy going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored.

1, Round 2, July 31, 2007
Railroaders
surge in late innings past Bulls 5-2.
In
Sikeston the first game of round 2 of the playoffs, the
Railroaders fell behind early when the Bulls scored
first in the 2nd inning. Fulton came back to tie in the
game in the 5th at 1-1 when Shannon Anderson doubled,
advanced to 3rd on error, and was batted home by Trent
Beirman with a sacrifice fly. The Bulls scored again in
the 7th taking advantage of a wild pitch and took the
lead 2-1. Top of the 8th, Jeff Reinke singled and Allen
Bolden reached base on an error, Tyler Rehmel then
sacrifice bunted to get the men in scoring position.
Cory Hodskins walked next to load the bases with Zak Shy
coming to the plate. Shy walked and Rehmel scored then
Kyle Bondy singled driving in the second run in the
inning and Fulton took the lead 3-2. In the 9th, the
Railroaders added 2 more runs off the bats of Allen
Bolden who doubled, and a Tyler Rehmel single. With a
5-2 lead, the Railroaders did not blow the lead as they
did in their last meeting with the Bulls. Fulton
scored their 5 runs on 6 hits and taking advantage of 3
Bulls' errors. The Bulls came up with 7 hits, but strong
defense and great pitching by Chris Craycraft kept
Sikeston in check most the night. Craycraft threw a
complete game striking out 13 batters and walking only
1. Taking the loss for the Bulls was Jeremy Brinkmeyer
who pitched only 1 2/3 innings in relief for starter
Robert Anders. Of offensive note for Fulton, both Allen
Bolden and Shannon Anderson each scored twice in the
evening with Kyle Bondy getting the game winning RBI in
the 8th off a single.

Railroaders
face off with the Bulls again tonight, Wednesday, at
home in Lohaus Field for game 2 of the 2nd round best of
3 KIT Playoffs. Union City squeezed past Owensboro
winning 1-0 in their first game of round 2 and play
again in Union City tonight.
