Farewell
the 2011 Railroader Baseball.
(August
1, 2011) Another
good year of baseball comes to an end as the 2011
Railroaders depart for heights unknown. There was
plenty of action on the field to satisfy all those
enjoying the sound of wooden bats and base running.
The Railroaders team and management thank all the
families, friends and fans for their support.
Attendance for Home games averaged 202 per game, and
Fans were treated to great baseball in a tight Ohio
Valley League pennant race. The Railroaders would
like to hear your thoughts and comments on the season.

Two
Railroaders Best of Best in 2011 OVL.
(July
26, 2011) With
the 2011 regular season complete, the OVL has selected
top players in 10 areas based on their season
performances recorded in the stats. Fulton is
proud to have 2 Railroaders make the list. Mikee
Moore gets top honor in the league with 30 Stolen Bases
adding to the team's record of 102 total. Moore
also lead the league with Most Hits at 52 along with
Oiler Ryan Stephens. In the pitching department,
Skyler Cobb shares Best W/L Percentage at 100% with
Oilers' Ben Wright, both 3-0 on the season. Congrats to
these players and all the Railroaders for brining
exciting baseball to Fulton.
Oilers
are 2011 regular season champs.
(July
25, 2011) The
Owensboro Oilers beat the Marion Bobcats 8-6 in 13
innings to complete the suspended July 10 game.
With the win, the Oilers 24-18 record gives Owensboro
the first ever OVL regular season crown. Post
Season Playoffs begin tomorrow, Tuesday, with the
Railroaders traveling to Marion to face off with Bobcats
in the first game of the best of 3 series in round
one.
Strong
finish in regular season play.
(July
24, 2011).
The
Railroaders are now complete with their scheduled 42 regular
season games, however, it is still possible they may
need to play one more to decided the top seed in the
standings.
A
slow start in June as the Railroaders went 8-11 on the
month, beginning with two night opening losses at home
against the Bobcats. Fulton remained at the bottom
of the standings all the way through mid-season before
the turnaround began to take shape. Slowly but surely,
the Railroaders climbed up in position completing their
schedule in July with a 15-8 record ending above .500
both on the road and at home. Befittingly the
Railroaders cap off the season winning at home with the
Bobcats.
The
Railroaders join in to Paint the Town.
(July
13, 2011).
The
Railroaders not only bring excitement to Fulton, the
2011 players are helping beautify the community by
joining in Paint the Town project. In their off
time, the players will be painting the Pool House and
their Bunk House to improve the area around the
play. As the season heads into its final weeks,
the Railroaders are surging in the standings and also
hope to bring Fulton another title in 2011.
Railroaders finish out Roster.
(July
14, 2011).
With
the deadline of July 15 to add players,
the
Railroaders have
signed a utility player to finish out the regular season
and playoffs. He is Colton Speed from Union City.
He recently signed with Murray State to complete
his
last two years of college.
Colton
prepped at Union City High School and played the last
two years at a junior College in Florida. He
will be an immediate asset to the Railroaders due to
being able to play both infield and outfield. We
have several players who have nagging injuries and are
playing thru them. Colton will allow the coaches
to use him to rest those injured and be prepared for the
stretch run at the regular season title and post season
playoffs.
Colton
Speed will be in uniform and ready if needed tonight.
Be sure and give him our best Railroaders welcome
tonight at "The Yard"!!
Suspended
game Oilers @ Bobcats from July 10th.
(July
13, 2011).
The game played
in Marion on Sunday, July 10 between the Owensboro Oilers and
Marion Bobcats has been placed in a suspended status. The
ruling from OVL officials has the suspended game tied 6-6, to be
picked up in the bottom of the 11th inning with the first
batter. The game is scheduled to resume on July 21 prior
to a game already scheduled in Marion. On that date the
game will resume with the same lineup of players that were
playing prior to the suspended game ruling, bottom of the 11th
inning. An adjustment in standings and stats have been removed, and will be reinserted upon completion of the game.
Roster

a hamstring injury. Smallwood might return but it
is uncertain at this point. Dylan Lynn, pitcher,
